Formula 1 is the most prestigious and exciting motorsport in the world, where the best drivers and teams compete for glory and fame. But how many tracks are there in a typical F1 season? And what are the types and locations of these tracks?
There are 24 Formula One tracks available for use in the 2023 season. With China having cancelled the event the number of circuits used in 2023 is 23.
The Types of Formula 1 Tracks
Formula 1 tracks are typically classified into three types

Permanent Formula 1 Tracks
Permanent circuits are purpose-built for racing and have dedicated facilities and infrastructure.
They usually have a smooth surface, wide run-off areas, and high safety standards.

Street Formula 1 Tracks
Street circuits are temporary tracks that use public roads that are closed for racing. They usually have a bumpy surface, narrow corners, and low grip levels. Examples of street circuits include the following.

- Baku City Circuit
Street Formula 1 Tracks
Road circuits are permanent tracks that use public roads that are not closed for racing. They usually have a varied surface, fast corners, and elevation changes. Examples of road circuits include
- Spa-Francorchamps
- Nürburgring Nordschleife (no longer used for F1)
- Mount Panorama (never used for F1)
