Daniel Ricciardo with Max Verstappen

So, the hammer has finally fallen, and Daniel Ricciardo is replacing Nyck de Vries at Alpha Tauri. Nyck de Vries’s tenure at Alpha Tauri has been looking more and more in danger. The timing of this move appears very sudden.

An article in the Dutch publication “De Telegraaf” reported the chaneover. It suggests that Nyck de Vries and Red Bull (lpha Tauri is the junior team) have agreed to part ways. This follows on from Nyck’s very disappointing start to the 2023 season. His best finishing spot was 12th at the Monaco GP.

After Daniel’s unimpressive stint at McLaren the smiling assassin joined Red Bull as their reserve driver in 2023. Ppinion about his possible return to F1 has been split. It has been a cause of much speculation with equal number saying he will come back in 2024, and others expressing an opinion that his time is over.

Daniel Ricciardo Move to Alpha Tauri

Christiaan Horner (Red Bull’s team Principal) has always had a soft spot and appeared genuinely upset when Daniel previously left the team for Renault in 2020. Clearly the team thinks that Daniel is capable of filling the spot and improving on the teams. prospects.

Now that Daniel returns as a functioning driver for the team, it will be interesting to see if there is any additional pressure placed in Sergio Perez. Sergio started the season with a bang and appeared to be a viable competitor to teammate Max Verstappen.

This has changed in the last few races and Sergio has seemingly lost his mojo. The Speculation is now suggesting that Daniel’s seat at Alpha Tauri may be a forerunner to replacing Sergio at Red Bull.

If Sergio starts preforming the threat falls away, however if he doesnt…..

For the fans Daniel Ricciardo’s return is a great event. His late braking racing style and smiling face will be a welcome addition to the grid.
