Fernando Alonso – Early Career
His dad decided karting was a sport the whole family could enjoy.
He chose to build a kart.
He began racing go-karts at the age of three and quickly showed his talent.
The local racing federation issued him a kart racing license.
At the age of 14, he won the Spanish karting championship and began his professional racing career in 1999, at the age of 18, in the Euro Open by Nissan series.

In 2000, Alonso moved up to Formula 3000 and he won his first race in that series in 2003 and impressed the Formula One teams with his speed and consistency.

He finished the season in fourth place in the championship, with a total of 59 points.
The following year, Alonso won his first world championship. In 2006, Alonso successfully defended his world championship, winning seven races and finishing on the podium 11 times.
