Imola GrandPrix cancelled

The 2023 F1 Imola Grand Prix, which was scheduled to take place on May 21-23, was cancelled. Thsi was due to severe flooding in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.

The decision was made by Formula 1, the FIA and the local authorities. After they assessed the safety and logistical challenges posed by the natural disaster they made the decision. The flooding claimed at least eight lives and displaced thousands of people. The race at Imola, which was to be the 6th round of the 2023 F1 season, will not be rescheduled.

Due to excessive flooding, Formula 1, the President of the FIA, the President of the Automobile Club of Italy, the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Mayor of the City, and other authorities of the sport have made the collective decision to not proceed with this year’s event in Imola. The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix would have marked the sixth race of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The decision was based on the safety of the fans, teams, and personnel due to the scale of destruction in local towns and cities across the region.
